Some comments to VPS providers

Part of our serivces is helping clients to install and deliver the system online; then we have to consider the certain server (VPS as we recommand) would have max flexibility to fit all the PHP based applicaions such as Magento, Joomla!, Zend Framework....

Acctually we have tried many VPS (Virtual Private Server ) provdiers, each of them has pros and cons, and here comes our comments:

1.Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)

Our Comment:
   1. the normal EC2 instance cannot persist any data after shutting down
   2. although there are some ways to preserve your data on S3 service, but it is not free, an estimation of keeping a 15GB image, would cost extra 24USD monthly!
   3. the IP address will change after instance reboot, it is not a good production website solution although we can use some tricks to tackle it by using DDNS

2. 1and1

Our Comment:
   1. they only provide AMD server solution, which is not very stable as of my personal opinion (just personal). and you could not physically see or manage the server unless you go to united states
   2. for their virtual server and/or cloud server, it is not good too, because there are too many people experienced that they were and are overselling them
   3. the bandwidth is not good too, we experienced this kind of problem from china of another client who is using their virtual server

   1. good reputation over cyber

   3. many flexibility on customization
   4. datacenters on US and EU

4. Singlehop

Our Comment:
   1. a newly launched VPS provider, seems a high-end brand from http://www.justhost.com
   2. fee is not cheap, the monthly payment is $147-$200
   3. good management interface: leap.singlehop.com
   4. fast connection speed and quick feedback from service desk.
